In the upcoming months we are praying that God’s presence will cover our congregation’s times of connection and worship in an unmistakable way. My goal is simply that we will:
PRAY. LISTEN. RESPOND.
When you respond to God, you take something you have and give it back to God to be used for his purposes. While you might imagine what God will do, God often does FAR MORE with our obedience and resources than we ever dreamed possible. Consider what Jesus did with five loaves and two fish!
In these next two years we are looking to respond to God and ask him, who is able to do FAR MORE in and through our church, to do more than we could ask or think, so that he would get the glory in the church throughout all generations of our church.
Because we believe he is able to do FAR MORE, we don’t want to fail to boldly dream of what God might do through us in the next 2, 10, and 50 years. If we are honest, failing to dream boldly could be a temptation for a great church like First Nazarene. It might be easy for us to slip into safety and comfort. I say this because we have no debt, our finances are steady, and we are seeing growth both spiritually and numerically. While I am the first to give God the credit for what he is doing through our church in recent years, I wonder if he is desiring us to imagine more.
What is God imagining for our future? Could it be FAR MORE than what we have imagined for his church? I believe if we pray, listen, and respond together, we will see God do FAR MORE than we could ever ask or think.
